The annual Fire Safety Expo will take place at Gurnee Mills on Saturday, May 16th from 10 am – 3 pm in Parking Lot E (near Bass Pro Shops).

Emergency Blood Drive: Sat., Jan 24

9:00a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Gurnee Fire Station #2 (6581 Dada Drive)

Walk in donations are welcome!  A Special Raffle will be held for all donors.

Blood supplies are low due to subzero temps and the holidays. Over 1,000 pints are needed daily in the Chicago area. Please help!

September is National Preparedness Month

September is National Preparedness Month: Be Disaster Aware, Take Action to Prepare!

The time to prepare for an emergency situation is well before disaster strikes. The Exchange Club of Gurnee is holding a “9-11 Remembrance Ceremony” on Sunday, September 7th.

The event will take place from 1-2:30 pm at the Viking Park Bandshell (4374 Old Grand Avenue, Gurnee).

The event is free and open to the public.

Prescription Drug Take Back Day

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Coalition for Healthy Communities are sponsoring “Prescription Drug Take Back Day” on Saturday, September 27th (10 am – 2 pm) with locations at the Freemont Township office in Mundelein and Volo Village Hall in Volo.

Accepted items are:

  • Expired Solid Prescription Drugs
  • Unwanted or Unused Prescription Drugs
  • Over the Counter Drugs
  • Controlled and Non-Controlled Substances

Not Accepted items are:

  • Liquid Products
  • Intravenous Solutions
  • Injectable Drugs
  • Syringes

The service is free and anonymous.

Update your Emergency Contact Info

Driver Resources: Emergency Contact Database

The Illinois Secretary of State’s office established the Emergency Contact Database in July 2009. The database allows Illinois driver’s license, instruction permit and ID cardholders to enter emergency contact information into a voluntary, secure database. In the event of a motor vehicle crash or other emergency situation when a person is unable to communicate directly, law enforcement may access the database to help them reach the person’s designated contacts.
