Thanks to the Warren-Waukegan Fire Protection District, the Gurnee Fire Department is to receive a new Advanced Life Support Ambulance to serve as a replacement for an outdated vehicle.

Chief Fred Friedl said the new ambulance will help the department “to uphold the high standards we are known for” and will lead to “a direct improvement in our operation efforts.”

Normally, all of these replacements would be paid out of the village’s capital fund for the department, but its replacement schedule with the village has been on hold because of the economy, Friedl said. “Our organization is very appreciative and excited about the new ambulance.”
